AMD Launches New TempSight® Brand

AMD is delighted to announce the launch of its new TempSight® brand of Time Temperature Indicator labels with the granting of its registered trademarks. TempSight® is targeted at reducing waste and increasing safety within supply chains in sectors such as food and pharma, through its application on medicines/vaccine and food packaging allowing close monitoring of environmental parameters.

This development is the latest step in AMD’s move towards final productisation of its range of time and temperature monitoring sensors. The company is working with packaging technology partners, from pharmaceuticals to food, who are in pursuit of cost effective solutions to meet the ever increasing challenge to protect sensitive goods at various points in the supply chain.

AMD CEO John Lee says, “We have previously highlighted a number of areas where cold chain reliability is critical such as our innovation award in the field of Vaccine Vial Monitors (VVM), and we are moving rapidly towards licensing and productisation with multiple partners. Although our key focus is on delivery of a VVM to meet the vaccine monitoring needs of WHO, we see applications across many areas for this technology which will provide AMD with rich opportunities as customers acknowledge the capability and realise the potential for cost effective, reliable and irreversible monitoring.”

Background: AMD’s polymeric Photonic Crystal “nLight” platform has enabled innovations in sustainable and cost effective colour change Time Temperature Indicators (TTIs) designed for ubiquitous use in the food, pharma, and other sectors that require specific storage and logistics conditions. TTI technology takes many forms, from IoT data logging devices designed for use at consignment level, through to simple colour change indicators suitable for use at package or item level. AMD's aim is to enable wide ranging application of colour change sensors through low cost, adaptability and ease of manufacture and handling. AMD is now preparing to launch its TempSight® TTI sensors at volume with industry partners to deliver the full and real advantages of this technology.
